The health and safety of our employees and families is our No. 1 priority. Safety is the most important thing we do and our goal is to get everyone safely home to their families each and every day. Our commitment to safety begins with leading by example, from CEO Ray Sedey to each one of our employee-owners.
McCarthy is joining employers across the country to help mitigate the continued spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). McCarthy’s actions are precautionary measures and are following guidance provided by the CDC. We are actively monitoring information from many credible sources to ensure we stay out ahead of this situation. We also will continue to evaluate all activities that we believe will put our employees at unnecessary risk. McCarthy has implemented various housekeeping, social distancing, and other best practices at our jobsites according to CDC and OSHA guidelines. These include: Social distancing Frequent hand-washing with soap for at least 20 seconds Face masks and appropriate PPE on all jobsites and in all offices Entry-point employee screening tools including temperature screening tools and resources, QR code questions, etc. Regular jobsite cleaning and disinfecting including frequently used tools and equipment and other areas of the work environment Jobsite visitors limited to only those deemed essential

EMPOWERING YOU TO SUCCEED
When building our workforce, we look to our differences to bring a richness of perspective. Our employee-owners reflect a wide range of backgrounds and cultures and these diverse perspectives enable us to deliver more creative solutions behalf of our clients, industry partners and each other. Cultivating a rich, diverse and inclusive culture will continue to be a companywide commitment as McCarthy strives to reflect the communities and clients we serve and deliver exceptional results.
By providing all of our employees across the country with the tools and resources they need to pursue rewarding career options, we’re building the next generation of thinkers and doers in the commercial construction industry. McCarthy offers: Recruiting, developing and retaining a diverse talent base Fair and equitable pay for all employees Assembling diverse teams Driving understanding, education and awareness Ensuring everyone is empowered to succeed Valuing each person’s skills, ideas and perspectives Proactively seeking diverse industry partners and suppliers Relentlessly supporting our communities through mentoring and outreach McCarthy is honored to have been recognized as a Forbes Best Employer for Diversity for our commitment. We are also proud to help build an industry and work environment that is diverse, safe, welcoming, inclusive and empowering for all. As an industry leader, we took the Associated General Contractors of America Culture of CARE pledge because we believe in taking action within our organization, industry and communities.
McCARTHY PARTNERSHIP FOR WOMEN
The McCarthy Partnership for Women is an employee resource group focused on supporting the recruitment, development and retention of women in the construction industry to broaden diversity of perspective. Ultimately, our goal is to develop and support a company culture where the industry’s top talent wants to join, stay and succeed for their careers. Women make up 47 percent of the U.S. workforce, but only 9 percent of the construction workforce. That number drops to 3 percent when talking about women in the craft workforce. How is McCarthy different? In 2022, more than 30% of our hires were women (vs. the industry average of 27 percent), and we continue to recruit and hire women across the country in all of our regions. We demonstrate our commitment by partnering with local and national organizations that promote a more diverse and inclusive construction industry, as well as by serving in leadership roles for organizations that support this mission. Among those we actively participate in include National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Women in Construction Operations (WiOPS), Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and the ACE Mentor Program.
WHERE EVERY VOICE IS HEARD
Leading the Industry
McCarthy is a founding member of Construction Inclusion Week, an industry effort to build and sustain a culture where everyone can succeed without barriers. We believe the most impactful way to improve diversity, equity and inclusion across the construction industry is for us all to work together towards this shared goal. As one of the largest builders in America, McCarthy is helping to lead this industry-wide effort.
Our industry-leading compensation and benefits package is truly a difference-maker. Since we are 100 percent employee-owned, every partner at McCarthy has a personal stake in the overall success of the company. When the company does well, we all share the rewards and help position our company going forward. In fact, McCarthy contributes up to four times the industry average to employee-owners’ retirement programs. Our best-in-class approach is designed to help you thrive today and well into the future — and our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) has been successfully implemented here for more than 20 years. The ESOP plan is funded solely by McCarthy at no cost to you, meaning you receive ownership in McCarthy as a benefit! That’s in addition to a 401(k) plan with McCarthy matching 50 percent of the first 6 percent an employee contributes after one year of service, plus an additional company contribution equal to 3 percent of your base pay. Along with comprehensive and competitive medical, dental and vision plans, our popular Build for Life health and wellness program includes annual health screenings that can help our employees lower their medical premiums, gain wellness rebates, gym membership discounts and more.
WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT THE McCARTHY ESOP?
Every partner at McCarthy has a stake in helping us become The Best Builder in America, professionally as well as financially. When the company does well, we all share the rewards. In fact, McCarthy contributes up to four times the industry average to employee-owners’ retirement programs. Our best-in-class approach is designed to help you thrive today and well into the future. At McCarthy, we each are empowered to act like owners every day and we can see the benefits of our hard work. One important way we do this is through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). As a potential future employee-owner of McCarthy, we want you to fully understand how this powerful and unique McCarthy benefit works. McCarthy is 100 percent employee-owned, so every McCarthy partner has a personal stake in the overall success of the company.
WHAT EXACTLY IS AN ESOP?
An ESOP is a tax-qualified retirement plan, similar to a 401(k) plan. The main differences are: The plan is solely funded by McCarthy. Account values are based on McCarthy stock price, which is only determined once a year. Here are some other important things to consider about our ESOP: You receive ownership in McCarthy as a benefit — AT NO COST TO YOU. You and your partners help shape the course of McCarthy’s future. You share directly in the financial results of McCarthy. You are eligible to participate after one year and you may be fully vested in the ESOP program after five years. The annual contribution may be up to 19 percent of your base salary.
ESOP value is driven by performance and McCarthy has had exceptional performance for quite some time. The plan has successfully been implemented here for more than 20 years. Our team of employee-owners comes to work every day knowing their efforts have a direct impact on helping achieve overall company goals. If you join McCarthy, you’re a part of something that we all share. You’re an employee-owner. That’s a powerful incentive and the ESOP is proof that ownership definitely has its rewards.

RENEWABLE ENERGY Clean, renewable energy is not only something to embrace and celebrate because it reduces our carbon footprint and better protects the planet for our children. Renewable energy is a financially competitive and necessary part of our nation’s strategy to improve the way we create and consume energy. From geothermal and biomass projects to single-scale, utility-scale and distributed solar facilities, McCarthy has been delivering a variety of renewable and conventional energy solutions for more than 40 years. WATER AND WASTEWATER Many think about the water systems that support our country only when there is a drought or disaster, but the systems that provide hundreds of millions of Americans with clean water and environmentally safe wastewater management are critical to everyday life. For more than four decades, McCarthy has been providing exceptional solutions to clients looking to solve the unique water/wastewater needs of their communities. Strong, effective and efficient infrastructure projects require the highly specialized knowledge and experience that our McCarthy teams bring to every project. INDUSTRIAL From dams and power plants that supply electricity, to water treatment facilities that clean our water and refineries that heat our homes, McCarthy is a builder of choice across all industrial construction segments. For decades, McCarthy has specialized in developing and implementing unique solutions to the challenges of industrial construction. We use our extensive experience across industrial sectors to provide large-scale project planning and constructability, equipment procurement and installation, and facility start-up and commissioning. CIVIL/MARINE On land and sea, strong infrastructure is the foundation of our communities and nation. Oil docks, container terminals, bridges, roadways and railways systems ensure the movement of people and goods across the country. For decades, McCarthy has overcome the unique challenges of building on land and water to ensure commerce and families can travel unimpeded. Marine and Civil infrastructure projects require specialized equipment, knowledge and experience that the McCarthy team provides.

We are always growing our business and our Specialty Markets segment is no exception. We continue to add salaried and craft employees after setting new company sales records in each of the last two years. Each of our Specialty Markets has shown strong growth and the potential for more. We continue to look to the future as we add to our workforce in strategic areas such as Renewable Energy, Industrial, Heavy Civil, Marine and Port Terminals, Subsurface Utility Engineering and McCarthy Equip.
Other Expertise
EQUIP Equipment and technology change rapidly – making it difficult to project what a building’s equipment needs will be during planning. The McCarthy Equip team includes builders and equipment planners that provide a full range of equipment related services linking design through final installation and activation. Equip’s service helps reduce change orders, schedule delays, costs, and ensures clients get the equipment they need. SUBSURFACE UTILITY ENGINEERING Subsurface Utility Engineering ensures that when we begin digging, we know what’s there. Our turnkey mapping service uses cutting-edge technology including electro-magnetic utility locators, ground penetrating radar, LiDAR, laser scanning, acoustic pipe locators and drones to create two- and three-dimensional models that provide greater cost-certainty while planning, accuracy during construction and safety during and after project completion.
